Hafiza's Story

For 8 days, her life hung in the balance.

Surrounded by wee, malnourished children, one cannot help but feel how fleeting life is. Many of their lives hang by a thread, and they only survive because of the medical care provided at Save the Children ́s malnutrition clinic in Aguié, Niger.

I wanted to capture the delicate balance between health and sickness, life and death. When I met Aicha and her daughter Hafiza, I asked if I could tell their story through art. I limited myself to three analogue images a day, seeking to portray Hafiza’s story like a lyrical poem.
